Hi all (especially Jesse :-),
Is there any chance that a new kernel image may be released? I'm trying
to build a commercial product based on the TS-7250, and there are three
showstopper bugs for my application in the released kernel. Although I
know that Jesse is working on a CE port and doing NetBSD in his spare
time, it would be nice to know that the Linux kernel is actively being
refreshed.
I have been able to build a new kernel, and have applied patches that
fix two of the bugs (the GPIO Interrupt # and the Real Time Clock).
However, the third bug (the JFFS2 file truncation problem) is a little
bit more of a problem. Apparently the JFFS2 current branch no longer
supports the 2.4 kernel, but has moved on to 2.6. I diffed the changes
between what is in the recent JFFS2 tree and what is supplied by
Technologic, and there are too many differences to count--entire
rearrangements of files, etc. I suspect that updating this one could be
a little bit tricky, to put it mildly.
Is there any chance that a move to the 2.6 kernel is in the works? Of
course, supporting at least the three patches I've identified above :-)
If not, is there any guidance as to updating to the newest JFFS2 from
the released 2.4 distribution? The number of directory and/or
rearrangements tells me that I don't necessarily want to delve into and
totally mess up my kernel without understanding that situation better...
If I am able to make a patched 2.4 kernel successfully, I'm more than
happy to distribute it to the group via the group files repository.
