Ok, didn't realize that the one line was "one line" I just sort of
assumed some kind of line feed missing while being copied in or
something. My lack of familiarity of what is legal on a bash shell
line created that situation.
Exporting the variable to the environment seemed to do the trick,
unless there is some place

I am going to try to recompile this whole thing with armoff now, as
suggested in the other message.
Is there an easy way to "touch" all the files? Maybe there is a clean
option somewhere, I didn't really look too hard at the makefile.
