If you are following the instructions on the TS website that mention using 'dd', those are specific to the x86 Compact Flash cards. To get your 1GB card to work, simply fdisk it (if needed), format it with your favorite FS (e.g. mke2fs), and simply untar the debian OS onto the 1GB card. Yahoo!
