I was able to get somewhere with an Edgeport/1 usb serial interface,
but I was doing the experimentation on the complete development
platform of linux, not the small version in the onboard flash. You
didn't mention you were using the development ISO image so I am going
to assume you are not.
Perhaps the onboard version doesn't have the appropriate driver for
the chip being used in your USB/Serial converter. They don't all have
the same hardware, so it is reasonable to assume that specific drivers
are required.
With the Edgeport I was able to use it for sending information,
however, I needed to manage it quite a lot. The driver seemed to only
alow transmission of groups of around 64 bytes, no more could be
inserted into the buffer untill they were transmitted. So I basically
moved a group of bytes , waited till they were gone, moved another set.
It is tedious but it worked.
What about the second serial port on the TS-7200? Why don't you just
try it?
