I tried it your way and that did not work.

So do a make clean, make, make install. And be sure
then to copy the pwc.ko to the /lib/modules/....
tree .... do a find /lib/modules -name pwc.ko to
locate the old one and replace it.  The lsmod pwc,
modprobe pwc.
