Hello,

I've just completed the Phillips ToUcam Pro III
(SPC900NC) - using the following resources:

(1) Saillard.org PWC driver for Linux
(2) qAstrocam imaging caputing software
(3) QCUIAG link to long exp. mod for SPC900NC

As I have completed the mod, but am having trouble
determining if it is actually working, I'm emailing
several of you for help.

The PWC driver sees my SPC900NC. The qAstroCam
software allows me to select from a list of long
exposure mods "SC mod: TUC led" and "SC mod: // port
(old)" and I can type in an exposure period in seconds
such as 30 seconds, and it appears to run through
0-100% complete but does not actually save an image.
The problem is it keeps running through 0-100% over
and over until I type 0 in the exposure field. While
it is doing this, I can also click on the qAstroCam
button to click a picture or video, and the properies
come out like this:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CameraName=Philips SPC 900NC webcam
CompressionWished=    0
Exposure=65535
ExposureTime=30.000  <===== SECONDS
FrameRateSecond=0.033
FrameSize=640x480
Gain=24576
Gama=    0
TIME=2006-09-17-23-18-44.647173
WhiteBalanceMode=Auto
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My mod makes use of a two-way switch for setting the
control back to stock SPC900NC versus LX, and I did
make sure it was in LX for long exposures.

So my main issues are I cannot tell if it is trully
working, and how should I be able to tell, and
additionally using qAstrocam what are the recommended
settings for long exposures with the SPC900NC, and
prefered method of taking long exposures? I need some
clarity on it - not sure why when I enter the exposure
length it immediately begins going 0-100% over and
over without me hitting the cam or video button, and
does but does not save any image unless I do hit the
cam button - but I don't know if it is trully saving a
long exposure.

Also, to the person who came up with the SPC900NC mod,
I'd like to further ask about the LX lead - I have it
so the two-way switch sets the cam back to stock
control, or to LX control. And when in LX control
mode, it simply makes a connection from the LX lead
from the 4066 chip to the PORT-10 point per your
instructions. Is this correct or am I missing
something?

I would most appreciate a reply from each of you, as I
am not sure who really can give a full answer.

Sincerely,
Peter Baitz
