Hi all, I have read through the posts in the archives and have made some
headway and have now installed the Kernel headers, gcc and kernel-devel
for my i686.
I'm running a P4 3GHz (hyperthreaded), 1Gb RAM FC4, new install,
completely updated (as of yesterday) machine.
I wish to run my Logitech Pro 4000 which is already running on my laptop
( FC4 kernel 2.6.13-1.1532) with no problems.
When attempting make (using either pwc-10.0.11 or pwc-10.0.7a), I get:
make
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.16-1.2069_FC4smp/source
SUBDIRS=/home/patrick/config files/webcam/pwc-10.0.7a modules
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/kernels/2.6.16-1.2069_FC4-smp-i686'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `files/webcam/pwc-10.0.7a'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/kernels/2.6.16-1.2069_FC4-smp-i686'
make: *** [default] Error 2
(I've noticed that the kernel says 'FC4-smp-i686', though the kernel
running on my machine is kernel '2.6.16-1.2069_FC4smp' - I am not clear
how to resolve this)
Following on from a post made by "peter at meta-logica.com Fri Nov 4
01:43:42 2005"
I have the following information:
cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.16-1.2069_FC4smp
(gcc version 4.0.2 20051125 (Red
Hat 4.0.2-8)) #1 SMP Tue Mar 28 12:47:32 EST 2006
rpm -qa kernel*
kernel-smp-devel-2.6.16-1.2069_FC4
kernel-devel-2.6.16-1.2069_FC4
kernel-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4
kernel-smp-2.6.16-1.2069_FC4
kernel-smp-devel-2.6.16-1.2096_FC4
kernel-devel-2.6.16-1.2096_FC4
kernel-smp-devel-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4
kernel-smp-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4
kernel-2.6.16-1.2069_FC4
rpm -qa make gcc
gcc-4.0.2-8.fc4
make-3.80-7
I followed the directions:
# cd /lib/modules/`uname -r`/source/
# make oldconfig
Though I had no success.
I cannot institute this piece of advice:
cd /usr/src/linux
make cloneconfig
make modules_prepare
As I have /linux directory in /usr/src
As stated above, I have exactly the same camera running on my laptop.
Following luc's directions on the site made the install a breeze and
would like to get it going on my desktop (have rels who have moved to
Hong Kong and my wife would like to video conf with them and getting out
the lappie, though possible, is not convenient :))
Any redirection to an existing post would be appreciated, as would any
other assistance.
Many regards,
Patrick
