I haven't dove into the chipset but this sounds like
an application issue and not something specifically
supported by the camera itself. Unless its part of the
functionality of the camera I think this is better
left to the application programers.

What application are you using to view it?
xawtv, mplayer ... ? see if there isn't the option
your looking for in these programs.
