Dear pwc list:

I have a Logitech QuickCam 4000 pro. I am running FC4 with a 2.6.13.1 kernel. I have kernel source installed.

Compilation and installation of pwc-10.0.7a proceeds uneventfully. Then:

# modprobe pwc

FATAL: Error inserting pwc (/lib/modules/2.6.13.1/media/pwc.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

/var/log/dmesg contains:

pwc: Unknown parameter `index' (rempeated a number of times)

I think it's not a problem of the driver but in your configuration, perhaps
you have specify a module options called index ? Can you checkthe folder
/etc/modprobe.d/* ?

That wasn't exactly right, but your suggestion led me to do a search, and I finally examined /etc/modprobe.conf, which had a line "options pwc index=1", which mysteriously appeared in that file since I installed FC4 two weeks ago.

So ... thank you very much! My camera is up and running once again.

I appreciate your assistance!
