I'm working on an arm system that only has 2.4 kernel support, and I'm also having trouble with control request timeouts. In my case, I think there may be an unresolvable hardware issue, but I've had some success with wrapping control request code in the PWC driver with retry loops so that occasional timeouts don't break everything. Although this log looks like none of the requests are getting through at all, I wonder if in general it would make sense to add retry code to the PWC driver. Luc, would you be interested in adding the retry code if I submitted a patch?
