 In answer to my own question about testing mkh 30 and 40, this is from Sen=
nheiser Repair---=0D

 ".............  As for the 30 & 40, they both should have a similar output=
 level as that of the 20 as they all have the same sensitivity rating of 25=
 mV/Pa.   So, to check output level, I would simply make some recordings wi=
th one channel using a 20 and the other channel either the 30 or 40, using =
let=92s say a test tone or something similar, and see if the output levels =
are comparable.  As for frequency response, unfortunately I would have to m=
easure your 30 & 40 against known standards and see how they compare.......=

 Output level checks out fine with both 30 and 40. Since both mic's sound g=
ood to these old ears,at this time, I'm assuming freq response is ok and wi=
ll refrain from the arduous confront of sending them back to Sennheiser.=0D
