Hi, Marco!
I had available a SD 702 and a pair of Sennheiser 8020 in an A/B setup.
While I was absolutely impressed with the almost inexistent mics self nois=
e, making the Sennheiser and sound devices a super combo, I found the bass =
frequency response out of control, causing the recording to be critically d=
ifferent than the perception of the surroundings. Hence, I had to use aggre=
ssive hi-pass filters many times, particularly at the nocturnal recordings =
where most of information was above 2 kHz.
I am hoping in the future to try these mics in a quasi-binaural setup and =
see if there are improvements, but I just learned the M/S to be very accura=
te if the purpose is also scientific (besides capturing a beautiful soundsc=
ape, this is); I used the M/S setup a couple of years ago in a reserved nat=
ure park here in Sweden and the depth was very well translated.
all the best,

sound is worth a thousand pictures." R. Murray Schafer via Bernie Krause.
