Hey Martyn, =0D
=0D
Parts Express has a ton of potential candidates:). Depending upon the fre=
quency band you need to reproduce your mouse. Here are the exciters:=0D

=0D
They could be handy for field reproduction simply because they can be mount=
ed 'inside' of an enclosure (away from critters and weather, etc.:).=0D
 =0D
=0D
You might also look into Piezo transducers:=0D

These might be handy in the field because they are not 'inductive' devices=
... no magnet or vice coil, just a little ceramic crystal that resonates to=
any voltage. Benefits for these are:=0D
 1. They're light weight (easy transport)=0D
 2. They are weather resistant (almost weatherproof!)=0D
 3. They're super efficient, require almost no power (amplification, batter=
y, etc.)=0D
 4. They're cheap:)=0D
 =0D
=0D
The latter ones work down to what most of us would consider mid range, and=
they do not require any XO circuitry, they just roll in where they are com=
fortable:).  For example, 1800hz:=0D

=0D
Of course small cones are always an option:=0D

=0D
To replicate a mouse I don't believe you need a big speaker, something lik=
e the little guy above, mounted in almost any makeshift enclosure, should b=
e sufficient driven by a small amp, or possibly a decent headphone output:)=
. That one has your aluminum cone and a rubber surround, should survive th=
e elements ok.=0D
 =0D
=0D
You can go bigger, but smaller will always be easier to transport, power, =
and camouflage in the wild:).=0D
 Hope this helps, best,=0D

A few years ago I did a job on Guam trapping brown snakes with pinky mouse=
sounds emitted from a high frequency speaker that was about 8=94 in diamet=
er and made of aluminum (i think) I cannot find the supplier i bought the s=
peaker from and i=92m wondering if any of you guys know a place where i can=
 get something similar..=0D
My computer lost a whole bunch of e-mails that had details.=0D
