Hello Recordists,

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is currently working on
recovery strategy development for Western Screech-Owl (Megascops
kennicottii kennicottii, and M. k. macfarlanei subspecies).

ECCC uses the best available information to prepare federal recovery
documents for species at risk listed on Schedule 1 of the federal Species
at Risk Act. We are in the process of gathering best available occurrence
information for Western Screech-Owl. This information will assist in
improving the recovery strategy, which will be used to help ensure that the
species has the critical habitat it needs for survival or recovery.

If you have observed or heard a Western Screech-Owl in Canada, we request
that you provide us with detailed information (preferably via email)
by *January
15, 2017*. Please feel free to contact me if you should have any questions
or you would like to provide occurrence information by phone.

Thank you,

Eric Gross
