Hi David!

All recorders providing phantom power will work with the PRO8.
Weight, size, price and battery consumption are important matters.
Without personal experience of the Roland R-26 recorder, I have
learned to be a little suspicious about all low price recorders with
lots of options. The H4n is also a very competent recorder, if you
look at the number of options.
Looking at pictures of the Roland, it looks like the channels have
separate gain controls?? If so, it will be really a bother to aim
with the Telinga and manage the controls at the same time.

Both of my H4n=B4s have stopped working, my Tascam DR-100 has a broken
XLR input on one channel, but so has my FR2LE. It is really hard to
give you a good advice, (except SD recorders) but I have never heard
a bad word about the Marantz PMD-661.
My best regards and I hope you are lucky choosing the best recorder
for your purpose.

Klas.
