Hi, Bernie!
I just recently bought a copy of your book (2012 edition) in hardcover form.
I could not find any info inside regarding sound examples or audio files, which
I find to be very peculiar after reading your statement, below.
Can you please provide a link to those audio examples for those of us who
bought a hardback copy?I was not aware of any other variations.
Note that I also have 'Wild Soundscapes', but that book included a CD.
Thanks very much!
Best regards,Greg O'Drobinak

The insect larvae (1984 recording) audio files can be found in Chapter 3,
example 21, in my recent book, The Great Animal Orchestra: Finding the Origins
of Music in the World’s Wild Places (Little Brown), Zach. Check it out.

You mentioned recording vernal pools near Mono Lake. I'd love to hear them.
Were they released on one of your discs?Ray: You can certainly visit. Contact
Wave Farm in Acra where it's installed (via the link on my page) to figure out
their visitor hours. I've been thinking about above-the-water sounds too, but
there's a road nearby (which I can actually hear via the hydrophones sometimes)
and I'd have to do some thinking since the original intention was to reveal
sounds that aren't immediately perceivable to humans.-Zach

Good points, Greg.
We had long discussions w/ Little Brown, the publisher, begging them to provide
at least a QR code the readers could scan and which, in turn, would link them
to a web site with the audio referenced in the book. Astonishingly, they really
didnt get it at first. They finally did get the message after a nasty little
episode with Amazon, demanding that LB add the QR code in the paperback version
that came out a year later.
But directly to your point: if you link to
http://www.thegreatanimalorchestra.com, youll find all the audio clips, there.
Note: the hard cover doesnt have the related audio symbols throughout the
text. Only the paperback.
That said, both of my new books published by Yale Univ. Press will have web
links for audio. Voices of the Wild, will be out in a couple of weeks. And the
updated version of Wild Soundscapes: Discovering the Voice of the Natural
World, will be released in April.
