Hi that's right, just got a call about an adapter cable that is missing, so
that will solve the cable length problem - i assumed the cable itself would
be of the correct length, but an adapter cable will work fine. Will have to
test it to see what the effect is of the open gap to which the mic is
pointing when mounted inwards, hopefully the amplification of the dish will
negate sound incoming from the rear when having it properly focused on
target.

I just realised that the opening at the end should also affect omni mics
even though they'd be mounted pointing forwards, so perhaps it's not such a
problem? Will find out soon I'm sure, after some extensive testing!
