Batteries in the M10 do indeed pretty much go on for ever! As for noise, Raimund's mic input tests show it's one of the quietest of the cheaper recorders, and spending more may not bring huge improvements in pre-amp noise. I personally never had an issue with preamp noise on the M10 - in reality (for me, anyway) there is always something like wind noise that's the real problem. I wonder if the maybe the D100 might have more powerful PIP, resulting in Norman's PIP-powered mics performing better ? I've never used the M10's PIP, as Klas always said the Sony PIP was marginal for powering many mics. So I use mics with their own battery. |
