Aaron,

It's a triumph of practice over theory. I found any mic, if laid touching a=

surface, from lapel mic omnis to MKH416's, all sounded "closer".

The answer to your last question is to test it before relying on it, hence=

the drumming fingers test.

I've got the theory behind this design, but it was developed practically.
The copyright is open-with-attribution if anyone wants to make a foldable
