Bruce,
I use a PMD-661 with two SD 302 field mixers/preamps plus a MixPre for a
total of 8 individual microphone inputs... Part of the success in this
setup is that the SD units sterio buss can be daisy chained together... =
Works great and while the PMD-661 is an excellent device and my favorite
recorder, using the Sound Devices units definitely makes an improvement
in my experience... I get more than enough gain for field work and I've
been running this detup for three years now and wouldn't change it for
anything...
