I think David's "fetch" concept, seen as analogous to optical field of view= , is very useful. However, I would normalise the scale so that omnis are a = Message: 1. Subject: Normalising to cardiods seems arbitrary and introduces fractions which, = as we know, are inherently evil. ;-) Besides which, this scale emphasises that soundscapes recorded with omnis a= re in their least processed state. As soon as we use other polar patterns w= e are further altering the sound (frequency, phase, etc.) towards a specifi= c purpose, which often involves isolating one particular sound source from = the full field. :: Robin Parmar :: remanence.robinparmar.com :: |
