And for those in the San Francisco Bay Area, I'll be doing an evening  
onstage with David Byrne (Talking Heads) as part of the City Arts and  
Lecture Series on 16 October at the Herbst Theatre. It's a celebration  
of his new book, "How Music Works," and mine. He reminded me  
backstage, after my Lincoln Center presentation last month, that we  
had worked together on an album he did with Brian Eno 30 years ago  
(Bush of Ghosts) and wanted to renew the acquaintance. He figured the
