Were you using the D4 internal mic or did you have an external mic 
plugged into the D4?   I use the Nikon D300s and find the sound is 
surprisingly good with Sennheiser ME64 or ME66 mics being plugged into 
the camera. The camera's sound digitizer changes to a higher rate when 
an external mic is plugged in.
