Hi Clive
If you fancy a little DIY you could fit your Atherstone with a stereo pair =
of Primo EM172 mic capsules for a total cost of about =A325/30. The capsul=
es are readily available in the UK from Felmicamps.

(No comnnection with this firm other than being a very satisfied customer)
Message No. 47523 on Naturerecordists gives a photo and a sound snippet fro=
m a recording made with two EM172s in a reflector. Although this recording=
was made on a Sony MZ-RH1 minidisc my LS-10 very adequately powers the two=
capsules.
Such a DIY route will give you a superior sounding parabolic microphone at =
minimal cost.
There are plenty of posts in this Group and elsewhere on the net to guide y=
ou through the DIY work.
Cheers, TomR

Can anyone recommend a better microphone for such a set-up as I was somewha=
t disappointed by the quality of the recordings made with the dish. Luckily=
the bird flew over and sat in the tree under which I was hiding so I got a=
good recording just using the built-in mics!
