Yes, the BP4025 can be quite excellent in many situations! I use mine 
frequently.

However, in many 'open' nature areas I prefer the sound of a 'SASS' type 
boundary equipped with omni mics, but again that's *my* personal preference.

It's all a question of how you hear and what you want to capture. Mics are like 
camera lenses, you pick the one(s) you want to capture the 'scene' you want.

Some people have also done excellent work with ORTF mic setups, such as with an 
pair of spaced AT4021s.

The best thing to do is to rent a number of different mics and try them under 
different conditions. Then you can make an informed decision before spending 
much money. One size does not necessarily fit all.   :>}
