It is not the same as "being subjective" it is more neurological than that.>> You've actually described "masking" here, while maybe thinking it is someth= ing else. Masking is the tendency for one frequency to obscure a nearby & s= lightly quieter frequency. Not so much neurological as psychoacoustic, whic= h is to say the masking effect occurs within the brain, not within the soun= dscape. In your example the aspens have a similar spectrum to the noise of = the recording system, thus obscuring the electronic noise by being a bit lo= uder & occupying the same general range of frequencies.
