Courtesy of an obliging blackbird I was able to do some practical field tes=
ting this evening.

The blackbird was perched at the top of a five metre high hawthorn tree abo=
ut 40 metres away from the zoom parabola which was on a patio with a side o=
f a two story house four metres away on the left (therefore not a perfect s=
ituation for widefield sound).

Apologies for the length of the 10 minute recording. It starts with about =
a minute of widefield followed by about a minute of zoomed sound. This typ=
ical sequence is repeated three more times and the recording finishes with =
some widefield sound.

Screen shots of the Audacity wave form and spectogram of the recording are =
the last two photos in this album

The recording is here on Soundcloud

It seems to work, but how well? Comments welcomed.

The four EM172s seem OK.

Cheers, TomR
