Peter, The plug-in-power of the recorder can only supply enough power for two capsules per side, and only some recorders can handle it. Using an Olympus LS10, I have found there is an approximate 3 dB improvement in the signal using two capsules per side instead of one per side. There is a picture of my 'SASS Lite' design that uses two EM172 capsules per channel, you can see how I've inset them into the boundary surface, about half way down the page, here: http://www.caperteebirder.com/index.php?p=3D1_17_recording-gear-1 cheers, Vicki On 14/02/2012, at 3:48 AM, Peter Shute wrote: > Thanks for all those details, Ross. > > Now why two capsules per side?
