Gene, thanks for the warning! =C2=A0 To date, I've built several "test run"=
versions using the cheap capsuls available at Radio Shack.=C2=A0
I was happy with the results overall,(as far as functionality) but the self=
noise was higher then I liked(really bad in a Sony HI MD which has low sel=
f noise!). =C2=A0 In looking at those, I'm hoping I can improve on that. =
=C2=A0 Even with those cheap mics, I've left recorders out overnight, in ra=
in storms, without incident..so I'm thinking these have to be better still.

=C2=A0
Please be aware that Primo labels it =E2=80=9CWaterProof=E2=80=9D but at fr=
ogloggers.com we describe it as =E2=80=9CMoistureResistant=E2=80=9D.

Thanks, glad to hear that source is available. I particularly like that th=
e capsules are already wired, and include the waterproof cap.

Frogloggers.com has plenty of EM172 or EM158 in stock and can ship in 1 to =

Subject: [Nature Recordists] Ordering mic. capsules on line.

Hey all.
Some time back, there was a discussion pertaining to ordering from
Frogloggers. At the time, there was some concern over delivery of orders,
and I "thought" someone had posted an alternative to high quality capsules
for DIY stereo mics. For the life of me, I can't find that conversation on
the home page, and wonder if anyone recalls it, or failing that, if anyone
can recommend a source for reasonably priced, but GOOD, capsules. I'd buy
pre built...but the cost for what appears to be the same quality hardware i=
s
way out of my budget. If the issues with Frogloggers are no longer of
concern of course, I can just go that route!
Thanks for any assistance,
Paul
