Hi Peter,
You might also try my free Avisoft-SASLab Lite software (http://www.avisoft=
.com/downloads.htm).
It has a real-time spectrogram function that can also be operated on record=
ed (16 bit) .wav files, which would allow you to create a movie with a scre=
en capture application as already suggested by others before.
Watch the two videos that I just created with the Debut Video Capture tool =
(http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html):
http://www.avisoft.com/scratch/nightingale1.mp4 (overwriting mode)
http://www.avisoft.com/scratch/nightingale2.mp4 (scrolling mode)
The SASLab software can also display spectrogram envelopes of long recordin=
gs. This special (but slow) display mode can be setup from the command "Ana=
lyze"/"Overview Parameters..." by unchecking the option "fast mode". Other =
software often only takes short spectral snapshots on large files, which me=
ans that very short sound events could be hidden behind the gaps between th=
e indiviual snapshots.
Bye the way, the Pro version of the software would also be able to create m=
ultiple page spectrograms (see the last page on http://www.avisoft.com/clas=
sifying%20recordings.pdf)
Regards,
Raimund
