-- external mics and phantom power, AA cells, 15 minutes
In fairness, the purpose of the set of 2 AA cells is to allow you to continue
recording for a few minutes while you swap out the depleted Li-Ion battery for
a fresh one. The compartment for the Li-Ion battery is on the side of the
recorder, making it easy to swap batteries while the DR-100mkII is on a tripod
or table. A second Tascam BP-L2 Li-Ion battery costs abut $40.
