John,

I very much enjoyed the episode on your sound recording expedition,
well done!  It all helps to raise the profile of natural sounds.  And
what lovely places you have in Oregon for recording.

I agree about the 'expanded sense of presence' when one is solo out
in the wilderness.  Not sure about camping in the snow though!

I wonder how many folk on this list also have an art background?  I
do, and Mark Brennan, and Rob Danielson, how many others?  There is
definitely something that links artists, photographers, recordists in
that we are good at 'sitting still and observing', and perhaps our
observational skills work more slowly and more in depth than the
average observer.
