Yes, sorry, I meant the K6. It sounds like it shouldn't be a problem then, but
I'll give it a try tonight. It would be a pity to wreck it in such a dumb way
so soon after finally getting some decent equipment.

I've never done that myself, however working with a quantity of the K6
series microphones, they are very rugged and reliable, I doubt that
would hurt either.
When you say you plugged the ME66 into the line out socket, I assume you
mean you plugged a K6 power module into the line out socket and as the
K6 is made to interface with 48 volt Phantom power drivers, a 1 V Line
output device shouldn't be able to damage it. As the output of a
ME66/K6 is 50 mv, I doubt it would hurt a line output driver device.
Besides, most of these circuits have series resistors/capacitors in
matching circuits between the solid state active device and the actual
socket so I'm sure your gear is OK...
