Thanks Andrew, and yes I did some processing, mainly to overcome broadband 
snapping shrimp, boat noise, and excessive bass,as I record with no low-cut to 
not miss anything.

processing in addition to mp3 compression--

6db cut below 200hz
hiss reduction 7db X 2
10 db cut 2000-6000 hz
6db cut 1500-2000 hz
