I have recorded music with omnis many times, long ago, and it seldom
sounds good. There are too much of phase problems cause of
reflections. Usually the high frequencies get lost.
Outdoors is another question: Omnis may sound excellent, but
preferably if they are more apart than the Sony ones.

I have never used a modern Sony recorder, so I can=B4t compare, but I
really like the handling of the Olympus. Menus are simple and there
are wheels to turn to set recording and headphone level.

Yes, there is nothing wrong with the freq. response of the LS-11. All
modern digital recorders perform better than the best analog Nagra...

You mention the Clip.On's. If your friend would like to use them in a
future, it's a border line case with the Sony, cause of it=B4s low PIP-volt=
age.
