My ears made me ask the question. > The B format signal is a huge asset. This mic will never be as quiet as a= Schoeps or Sennheiser capsules, but I=82m not looking for that. In terms o= f a flexible and very good surround mic it=82s unique and much better to wo= rk with than MSM. More compact is always a help in the field. My Jecklin disk array weighs a = ton. > The quality, space and flexibility of the B format signal is awesome and = beats anything I have ever heard. I think it=82s all to do with the absence= of any phase errors which any spaced capsule system suffers from. But that's a trade-off. In exchange for the remixing flexibility, coinciden= t techniques lack the timing information that contributes to realistic spat= iality, especially for headphone listeners. What you call "errors" I call "= dimensionality." -Dan |
