Zaxcom is showing the Nomad, a new multitrack recorder line, at the NAB con= vention in Las Vegas this week. The Nomad 6 has XLR mic inputs, 6 AES digi= tal inputs, SMTPE time code generator, and a 6 channel mixer. See http://www.zaxcom.com/Nomad.html for initial information about the Noma= d. The price for the Nomad 6 is reported to be $4400. A version with 4 XLR inp= uts only, no digital inputs, time code or mixer, costs $3300. The Nomad 6 is about the same size and weight as the Sound Devices 788T, wh= ich puts it right on the edge of portability for field use. (Those who lug= ged Uher and Nagra tape machines for days in the field are laughing our lou= d right about now.) --oryoki |
