Hi Gianni,

Unfortunately, I don't know whether there is currently any solution availab=
le to work around that.

The problem lies in the USB audio class 1.0 driver that is part of the Wind=
ows operating system. This universal audio driver is still limited to the f=
ull-speed USB transfer mode, which allows a maximum data transfer rate of 1=
MByte/sec only. However, the 192KHz/24bit stereo recording mode would requ=
ire a data rate of 192 kHz x 3 x 2 =3D 1152 kByte/sec.

There is a new USB Audio Class 2.0 standard that overcomes this limitation =
by using the high-speed USB transfer mode (which is already supported by th=
e MacOS OS 10.5.8). But as far as I know, it is still not available on Wind=
ows.

Theoretically, it should however be possible to use such an USB audio inter=
face on Windows at a reduced resolution of 16 bits (192 kHz x 2 x 2 =3D 768=
kByte/sec). But it was then required that the audio device firmware suppor=
ts that mode of operation (and reports it via its device descriptor), which=
is obviously not the case on the USBPre2.

So, we probably have to wait until the next edition of Windows (hopefully) =
also supports the USB Audio Class 2.0 standard.

Regards,
Raimund
