I've used ME66's in several occasions with the Rycote softie displayed in t=
he following link and it worked reasonably well as far as wind and movement=
 protection: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/383885-REG/Rycote_033352=
_18cm_Standard_Hole.html)

Many years ago I made lots of recordings with a ME67, which was the only mi=
c the school I was attending had. The wind protection gear was a lot better=
than the Rycote softie I mentioned above. They had a Sennheiser kit which =
consisted in a suspension, a blimp and a wind muff (http://www.bhphotovideo=
.com/c/product/478490-REG/Sennheiser_BS3_Blimp_System_f_ME.html). From the =
photo of this link I cannot be sure if the windjammer is exactly the same. =
The one I used to work with resembles the fur of a Lhasa Apso (long straigh=
t heavy hair). The mentioned windjammer had an outstanding performance, att=
enuating quite heavy wind action in critical situations.

when the HPF is off is to mount it on a tripod. But shotguns are meant for=
field recording, typically on boom poles, and I'm very surprised with the =
handling noise.

Once I've had a `handling' problem with a Neumann KM82, some sort of noise =
that appeared to me to be produced by some looseness somewhere in the acces=
sories. I've checked the shock mount, then the cabling, ending up with the =
boom pole. Finally I found out that the noise was being produced by a small=
part that is attached to the tip of the mic, which was slightly unscrewed.=
So much `slightly' unscrewed that it seemed almost unbelievable that such =
`small' thing could produce so much noise, sounding as if there was a loose=
 bolt inside the tube.

Best,
Luiz
