Hello there! As you see, I'm new to the group and also new to 'serious' sou=
nd recording. I admit that I know next to nothing about audio but am keen t=
o learn. Thinking about getting a Mini Disc recorder and external microphon=
e.

My background is photography as I have always been a visual person. I'm cur=
rently living on Kangaroo Island in South Australia and am surrounded by wi=
ldlife, great subjects for photography. Now, I would like to make some soun=
d recordings of these animals (mainly the birds) and with hopefully better =
audio quality than what i get with the onboard microphone of my video camer=

There is this particular bird around here that makes quite an amazing call.=
It sort of sounds like a combination of a chain and a rattle. It's quite e=
laborate. I haven't heard it in a while.
