Hi Marshall--
Sounds like a great experience.
In that price range, you might consider a pair of Shure WL183's that
you can clip on top of your shoulders or on the sides of a hat.
http://tinyurl.com/yck7ck9  You can seal the recorder in a couple of
ziplock bags.

Even better, Mike Rooke might be able to make you a set of his new
water-resistant mics for, similar, "clip-on" mounting for a little
more. http://www.urlme.net/blog/?p=3D1416  Coincidentally, Mike may on
a seaside recording jaunt if he's slow in responding. Rob D.
