I am very happy with my Sony PCM M10 which is much cheaper than $500. With = my limited knowledge I would think it excellent for the sort of use you des= cribe - if for no other reason than that the batteries last so long (2 days= or so!) that you can leave it on all the time whilst wandering about witho= ut having to worry about conserving the batteries. This means you can captu= re more. But on top of that the mics are very quiet. You won't need the cheap dish a= nd you won't need other mics. I place the whole thing inside a rycote nt4 mini windjammer - works a treat= for me. |
