I don't know about shopping details (good luck, seems $250 is a great price).
I DON'T think you need to worry about getting a matched pair. I often use a
pair of ME-62's (unmatched, made years apart) that differ by up to 2 dB and (A)
can often not hear the difference and (B) easily adjust with an digital EQ
application.
