Yes Grant, you have discovered the Snapping Shrimp, bane of shallow water marine recordists. Same in Hawaii, maybe the whole planet. It's fairly broad-band , can't get it out, or at least I haven't found a way. It is said that you need deeper water, say over 30 meters.
