I tested an omni taking it from outdoors where it had been all night from -= 19 to -15C when i moved it to a sauna at +65C with 60% humidity. Left it fo= r 15 minutes recording and listened for any pops /sissle / "wrong" sounds, = nothing at all - continued working as expected. The mic stand was nice and= warm and thawed out too :) If it drops to -20C again Ill repeat the test, cycling an electret with rap= id temperature swings may prematurely age the electret / reduce the sensiti= vity - but in the interests of testing if the capsule can withstand such th= ermal shocks / swings, its interesting. -Mike. --- In "Grant Finlay" <> w= rote: > > FYI: > Don't forget that condensation will form regardless of the mic if you tak= e it from a cool to warm environment. > I leave mine outside overnight or give it chance to acclimatize before do= ing any recording. > > Regards, > Grant. > |
