Hi Oryoki--
Did I mention that Rich Peet is an expert on such matters? :-D He
also noticed that menu setting #90 of the recent 722/744 firmware
allows one to select a "Power On/Off unit and Record " mode. This
suggests to us that when external power is supplied, the recorder
will turn on and automatically start recording and when the external
supply is disconnected, stop recording and power-down. Using this
function, one might be able to use any timer with a relay such as
this battery-powered model ST01C Rich found:
http://tinyurl.com/yzezz7x With the relay stopping the unit, as John
suggested, one could probably by-pass the need for the Steco box.
Obviously, one would want to thoroughly test a bunch of cycles first.
