Hi Raimund, Ultra portability is not important to everyone, but it definitely has its place. Lower noise makes any recorder more versatile. Lower cost makes any recorder more accessible. For those who need an ultra portable recorder, a low noise mic input would allow for low cost adaptability to external, low noise, phantom power mics if needed or wanted. Adding phantom power costs less than a hundred bucks, but adding stand alone preamp or an additional dedicated recorder like the FR2-LE costs a whole lot more. John Hartog |
