http://naturesound.org/this_weeks_recordings/Entries/2009/10/11_Boreal_owl_= %22squeek%22_calls.html Last night I spent a considerable amount of time in pursuit of a boreal owl. I managed to get their typical calls but I thought I would hang around in my van for anything different. I got these (above link) There were two birds, you can hear one calling back to the one closest to the microphones. I have had a look around as to describe the call and what I have come close to is the "peep " calls they make. Recorded with: SD 722 Microphones: MKH 40/30 Tripod mounted with a rycote windjammer and blimp. Sample rate: 44.1k 24 bit Temp:39f Humidity: 48% Winds: calm Weather: clear. Cable was extended 250 feet Recordist: Martyn Stewart Martyn ************************************* Martyn Stewart http://www.naturesound.org Redmond WA 425-898-0462 |
