Hi Ashwell,

I listed some stats on many of the models used by folks in the Naturerecord=
ists list as compiled by one of its members. Of these, the Olympus is getti=
ng good press for its value and performance while the Tascam is considered =
one of the most affordable. Prices vary depending on source and, since you =
are in SA, you will have different suppliers and avenues to purchase. Howev=
er, it is always helpful to use Ebay as a baseline for pricing.

I still have yet to see anything that rivals the Sennheiser Me-66/67 mikes =
for birding use so I will leave the mike discussion to that. Parabolas vary=
greatly but, if this was your choice, look at Telinga.
