Hi All,

On the way back from the recent AWSRG workshop at Gundabooka, I made
recording of the dawn calls of Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters at Roundhill
Nature Reserve in the New South Wales Mallee. These are really quite
different to the normal daytime calls and quite haunting.
Unfortunately the batteries on my recorder were close to flat and this
seems to have resulted in significantly higher levels of hiss that I
normally get from the AT3032's.

I've tried doing some clean up with a demo copy of the Izotope RX
Denoiser plugin which seems to work reasonably well, but with the loss
of some detail. I'm sure with a real copy and some more fiddling I'd
be able to get a better result! As an aside the spectral repair
function in RX is phenomenally good at removing things like car door
slams!!

I've also posted a small after and before comparison with a short
section with noise reduction applied followed by the original with
only gain applied.

There is also a short edit of a recording I made at Gundabooka
National Park, in Northern NSW, during the AWSRG workshop posted at on

cheers
Paul
